A PSA FROM THE MFISH (1998)|
An exposť of the terrible conditions of my high school including collapsing ceilings, prolific water damage, mad asbestos, missing toilet stalls, damaged railings, broken chairs (and broken dreams!).
I made a point in the second half of the film to show a squeaky-clean bathroom, only to pull back and reveal the sign "Staff Only" (you can see that shot in the abridged version above). This fifteen-minute experiment in terror took three days to film (mostly wandering the hallways during my study periods when I probably should have been cramming). Nearly all of the edits are in-camera, which youíd never know since the erratic score (movement #4 from the "Event Horizon" soundtrack) follows the action in an almost supernatural synchronisity. Itís one of my favorite film scores ever and it scared the hell out me the first time I played the CD along with the video.
Anyway, somehow a copy of this video fell in the hands of Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare and they gave the video some recognition. Before I knew it, the school underwent a multitude of environmental renovations. Happy to say itís looking much better these days. IĎm not saying that it had anything to do with my video, but itís neat to think so...
